galaxy777
I came upon this beauty in Post Oak Creek, Sherman; Grayson Co. Texas this past weekend which looks like a very large Armadillo scute. I didn't think that they migrated into the north Texas region? It measures 1 1/2" long and 1 1/8" wide. Cretaceous, Lower Austin / Upper Eagle Ford Formation
Fruitbat
Definitely looks like an armadillo scute but it isn't Cretaceous. Giant armadillos and glyptodonts have been recorded from Pleistocene deposits that unconformably overlie Cretaceous sediments in the Dallas/Fort Worth area, though not as commonly as in more southern locations. Koldsimer
Cool find! I've found a couple of very similar pieces in POC. That little creek produces a lot of cool stuff.
galaxy777
I know Koldsimer, I could LIVE in that creek! The rain we had last night probably flipped the gravel nicely. Can't wait to go back.
