Found this on Yorkshire coast, just rock ?

Hi, was out hunting and climbed up some banks/cliffs to have a little look, came across this, was going to discard it so chipped off the end to have a look (which looked similar to a ball joint) and thought looked a bit boney, I think it's just some layers of rock/sand myself but wanted your opinions before I binned it, cheers.

Just sandstone ?

Looks like a weathered sandstone to Me.

I'd have to stop shy of calling it a stromatolite. Some kind of algal structure perhaps ?

I agree with @Rockwood, i think this piece is more than a sand stone.
