Nörsk Grunner
This fossil was given to me years ago. It's approx 11"X7"X2.5" any idea as to what type of fossil it is and ideas on approximate value?
abyssunder
Maybe Manticoceras sp. 1 " We are not separate and independent entities, but like links in a chain, and we could not by any means be what we are without those who went before us and showed us the way. fifbrindacier
It's a nice ammonite. You can't ask about its value on that forum (see the rules), it is not the purpose of this forum. If you want to know its value, ask to professionnals on the net or in expositions. 1 "On ne voit bien que par le coeur, l'essentiel est invisible pour les yeux." Darktooth
It looks like a really nice ammonite! Do you know where it came from? I like Trilo-butts and I cannot lie.
Nörsk Grunner
My hunch is it's from Maine or New York unfortunately I'm not 100% positive.
PaleoRon
Looks like specimens I have seen from Morocco.
Manticocerasman
I agree with abyssunder, that's a Devonian goniatite. Manticoceras sp. is a good educated guess, but due to lack of info of its origin I would keep it at : Goniatite. 1 growing old is mandatory but growing up is optional. Probably neither can be ruled out, but I doubt it would be an expected find.
