Sam1234
Was out looking for fossilized shark teeth today along a beach on the east side of Amelia Island in north Florida. Came across this instead. Don't know what it is. Conical in shape with a slight curve to it. Is it a fossilized tooth? From what? Any help appreciated. Cannot figure out what it came from. Thanks! Sharks of SC
I believe it's a fossil gar fish tooth. I have a similar one somewhere. Nice find!
jcbshark
I'm in the fish tooth camp as well Every once in a great while it's not just a big rock down there!
Sam1234
Wow, the gar was/is one ugly--but cool--fish! Thanks for the info!
Harry Pristis
I think "generic fish tooth" is the best label. Many teleosts have conical teeth. 1 http://pristis.wix.com/the-demijohn-page What seest thou else In the dark backward and abysm of time? ---Shakespeare, The Tempest
