icycatelf
Having only found specimens with 1-2 nodes, I was pleasantly surprised to spot this poking out of the ground after a heavy rain yesterday. Just out of curiosity (and so I can properly label it in my gallery), could anyone tell me what species of Calamites it is (if possilble)? 1 Casual surface-collector and Pokémon fan. fifbrindacier
Yes, beautiful, felicitations it would be worth to post it in the competition of the fossil of the month. icycatelf
Thanks, all! Definitely my most visually-appealing find so far. @fifbrindacier: I technically found this last month, so I think I've missed the deadline. Dx 1 Casual surface-collector and Pokémon fan. icycatelf
And just by a hair, too! I definitely need to start looking at different parts of the forum (sometimes I forget there's more than the ID section). Thanks! I know I'm going to have a hard time beating this one. Now just to rearrange my display cabinet to make it fit... Casual surface-collector and Pokémon fan.

This say, maybe you know what Calamités mean in French ? 1 "On ne voit bien que par le coeur, l'essentiel est invisible pour les yeux." westcoast
Congratulations. I have found some Calamites but nothing even close to that. Its a real gem!
icycatelf
Thanks! I've also found a lot (probably over 100 -- mostly small -- specimens on this property alone), but this one is by far the most impressive. I'm glad I spotted it in the mud before it got buried up again for who knows how many years. Casual surface-collector and Pokémon fan.
