AlaPaleo
Hi! I found some pieces of petrified wood of Cretaceous Period, and same time found some fossile that has not typical structure for wood. It looks like fingerprints or something. I think that it is bone. Could somebody tell me what is this, and if it is bone - what animal it was belong to? It was found in Kazakhstan. Sorry for my english and thank you! Triangle "Knife" form from sideview Macrophoto of fossile stricture
Plax
looks like a broken off tooth at your palm. Bone ornamentation looks fishy but am just guessing. A very interesting piece.
fossilized6s
It does look quite fishy (meaning possible fish bone). And i definitely see what Plax is saying about the "broken tooth" object. I would say there is a very good chance that this is bone. Let's hear what others say.... ~Charlie~ "There are those that look at things the way they are, and ask why.....i dream of things that never were, and ask why not?" ~RFK ->Get your Mosasaur print ->How to spot a fake Trilobite ->How to identify a CONCRETION from a DINOSAUR EGG

Thank you! I do not know for sure, but there are a lot of petrified wood in that layer, and no marine fossils. Layer looks like aggregation of yellow and wite semitransparent pebble stones. Our paleontologyst sayd that this layer is from Cretaceous Period. This parts of wood was found at same place: Edited April 26, 2017 by AlaPaleo Add new photo
AlaPaleo
So it is not not possible to say for sure if it bone and whose bone?
ynot
If it is bone it is not identifiable beyond that. Darwin said: " Man sprang from monkeys." Plax
We just need the right person to look at this object which may take a while. Can we get a straight on pic of what looks like a broken tooth? If you could get the matrix off it would help also. I've had everything from turtle ribs to mosasaur maxilla run through my head but nothing makes sense.
