RCW3D
My wife is having surgery in a couple of days so this was her last chance to get out on the water for a few weeks. The river was pretty angry today and we searched on a rising tide, we still had a good time though and I finally was able to find my first complete cow shark tooth. Angry river! Glad the water is warming! Total haul. My precious! Found this and I'm not sure what it is...I originally saw it from this side, had I saw it from the other side I wouldn't have even gave it a second thought. Maybe part of a drum plate? Here's the other side...looks like a rock. Rob

ynot
Nice grouping of finds. Congratulations on the cow shark tooth. It is a drum fish type tooth. Tony Darwin said: " Man sprang from monkeys." kgstfinder
Nice Finds. Think I saw you all today. We found our first complete cow shark tooth today too. Almost missed it - daughter and I both looked through a pile of stuff I had scooped and missed it. Hubby spotted it when the sun hit it just right. Waves were huge today.

Nice thresher and dolphin tooth too! We only spent a couple of hours there, I was the guy with the Shark Tooth Sifter...though the majority of what I found was from walking back and forth. I was surprised to see so many folks out there today, I thought the wind and rough water would have kept them away. Rob
Fossil-Hound
@kgstfinder @RCW3D real proud of you two. Maybe we can go out as a group sometime. I find all my teeth by eyeballing it. First time I wish I ever had a sifter was a few days ago. There was a lot of shell conglomerates from the surf full of teeth. Really like the cowshark teeth and looks like there where some sweet makos and snaggletooth. Now let's see some Ecphoras and Megs! Swift recovery to your wife. Do or do not. There is no try. - Yoda

DevonianDigger
I will be hitting Purse on June 18th with @drobare, @Fossil-Hound can't join us, because apparently a family reunion is more important that finding shark teeth with his friends, lol! RCW3D
Fossil-hound, I'm up for a meet up some time, I've gone to Purse with Boneheadz a few months back and collected with WAHAMA90 at Brownies in February. Gavialboy and I have been trying to find a time to go for a hunt at Purse as well, just haven't been able to get the timing right yet. I've also run into drobare at Purse as well. In my opinion, Purse is probably one of the better places to meet at since we wouldn't be limited to an extremely small collecting area. Thanks for the prayers kgstfinder, it is only minor surgery but she'll be down for a little bit before she can hit the beach in earnest. I picked her up a nice beach chair for Mother's Day (Yes, other stuff as well! LOL!) to lounge in so she can still enjoy the river while she is healing. MiryamW
Where is it that you go? We live in Silver Spring, MD, and would love another place to go hunting aside from Calvert.

It is a small beach, if you are used to walking the beach for long distances at Calvert, you won't be happy. It is maybe 150-200 yards long...but it is much closer for us to drive to besides Calvert.
