Upon seeing the very nice recent posts by WhodamanHD:popcorn:, I was prompted to revisit my rock-pile stash and crack a few.

Does this look like a trilobite ? If it is, the eye is a bit different than WhodamanHD's find.

This one would be a bit larger than the others found here too .... if it actually is one.

Thanks for looking.

Yes, it is a Phacops rana cephalon (head). The left part of it shows the eye, and in the center is the glabella. I'd imagine the rest is buried by that spiriferid brachiopod.

Thank you gents.

I left the cover on for the photo having learned the hard way to never attempt to just pry the top pieces off. It always breaks up where I least want it to.

I'm going to expose the rest of it as best I can.

Cheers.

Two answers but one is correct and the other one is only confusing for the OP.

All Middle Devonian 'Phacops' in North America are classified as: Eldredgeops

Could it possibly be a Basidechenella ?

So many variations, its confusing.

Here it is cleaned up a bit. That other eye was buried down in there, took quite a bit of scratchin' to expose it.

These eyes are clearly a bit different than WhodamanHD's recent find. Although, this guy shows substantial deformation (pressure?).

Thanks again folks,

Regards.

No, this one is another Eldredgeops.  Btw, all the Middle Devonian 'Basidechenella' in North America are now classified as: Pseudodechenella

You have another Eldredgeops rana here. The schizocroal eyes and inflated glabella is a telltale sign. :)
