Doubts on Devonian Phacopids

Hello,

I think these are a Cornuproetus plus a Reedops? Am I right?

They are from Atchana.

If yes, are the species known?

Thanks in advance to you all.

Miguel

Well, the second one I was almost sure. I had already some of them in association with Crotalocephalus, from that same quarry. Now the Lepidoproetus , as usual, you caught me by surprise.

Thanks a lot, @piranha

Hello. Good afternoon to all.

Is this a Phacops, a Reedops, a somethingops from the newly organized/described taxa of Moroccan Phacops-like? Some years ago I would call it Reedops. sp.

Btw, what papers to consult about all these?

Thanks in advance,

Cheers, Miguel

It could be Reedops bronni or Reedops pembertoni.  Use the lens diagrams to determine the best match.

Ok, done. Perfect match with R. bronni. Thanks a lot, @piranha

Phacopsaraw is a good match.

Yes, it is, indeed. Now I see (by the lens formula) why it seems that the ocella look like a triangular shape towards the anterior part.

Thanks, once again, @piranha

P.S.: where is it described?

I "saved" this one from being part of a necklace. It has already a hole in the cephalum.

Is it a Reedops or a Barrandeops?

Thanks in advance,

Miguel

Those two didn't had the same luck. They are already in necklaces:

These are Reedops cephalotes hamlagdadianus

McKellar & Chatterton 2009 Barrandeops (recently reclassified as Morocops) has significantly fewer eye lenses.

This one has fewer lenses, compare with the lens diagrams for: Reedops bronni or Reedops pembertoni

is McKellar, R.C., & Chatterton, B.D.E. (2009) available? To try not to ask for each ID on each Phacopid.

Thanks in advance,

Well, Mr. Wolfgang Struve didn't have good specimens available when he published the famous paper.

It is almost impossible to be sure how to separate the 4 different forma of Drotops armatus.

Any updated information or ideas if the individual variation of this species is clear enough to classify different forms (or subspecies)?

Below is presented the study case that I would like to clarify by now.

Thanks in advance for all contributions.

Miguel
