janvanwinckel
My son found some fossils on the slopes of Thumama mountains in Saudi. Can someone help me identifying the fossils. We found also a lot of round white stones. Are these corals as well?
Miocene_Mason
The last picture is geological, maybe concretions. In the first picture you have a few gastropods (snails) and shells, I'm not sure if they are bivalve or brachiopod. The large thing appears to be a horn (rugose) coral or stromatolite? I will do some research as to the age, which should help. “...whilst this planet has gone cycling on according to the fixed law of gravity, from so simple a beginning endless forms most beautiful and most wonderful have been and are being evolved.” ~ Charles Darwin Happy hunting, Mason
Miocene_Mason
I can't find any references to thumama mountain, so can you tell where it is on this map? This will give us the geologic age and should help give firm identifications. “...whilst this planet has gone cycling on according to the fixed law of gravity, from so simple a beginning endless forms most beautiful and most wonderful have been and are being evolved.” ~ Charles Darwin Happy hunting, Mason
