Silfo
Hello. I found this piece the other day, and I think it's some kind of vertebra. What do you think? The coin is big, about 1 inch. The surface has small porous. The interior is solid. The weight is about 6 kg = 12 lb. I found it about 250 m above sea level, and 2 km from the coast, in a place with a lot of small marine fossil. Is it a cetacean ?. Thanks!
Doctor Mud
Welcome to the Forum! Was this found in Argentina? Sure looks cetacean to me. Some locality info would help.
Miocene_Mason
I'd say cetacean as well. “...whilst this planet has gone cycling on according to the fixed law of gravity, from so simple a beginning endless forms most beautiful and most wonderful have been and are being evolved.” ~ Charles Darwin Happy hunting, Mason
Silfo
This was found in Argentina. A little more of detail in the location. I tried to found another piece in the same place, but until now nothing at all . Look like this Whale Vertebrae, 9" tall, Miocene Epoch, DeSoto County, Fla. http://fossilhuntingtours.com/galleries/dolphin-and-whale-fossils/ I am going to try to clean it a little.
