Gallium
Found a ulna and tibia in a Florida river. We have a few guesses but we really can't place it. They were found next to a Mastodon. Please help
jcbshark
To me just from the color I wound think they may be recent, do they seem lighter than a similar sized fossil bone. I'm sure someone will be along that will have a more definitive answer like @Harry Pristis Every once in a great while it's not just a big rock down there! Gallium
Now that they are dried out, and cleaned a bit you can see it better. The tibia looks like it was fused to the fibula.
Miocene_Mason
Sorry I can't help, sure harry pristine can when he gets here though! Welcome to the forum from Maryland @Gallium! It's a fun element, have some myself (haven't taken it out in a while though). “...whilst this planet has gone cycling on according to the fixed law of gravity, from so simple a beginning endless forms most beautiful and most wonderful have been and are being evolved.” ~ Charles Darwin Happy hunting, Mason
Gallium
Thank you @WhodamanHD, I like to use this site to try to ID the stuff I find by looking at others' posts, but we really can't figure this one out lol.
Harry Pristis
Compare your bones with these: 2 http://pristis.wix.com/the-demijohn-page What seest thou else In the dark backward and abysm of time? ---Shakespeare, The Tempest
Shellseeker
Quote They were found next to a Mastodon. Well, that has peaked my curiosity!!!... Having Harry identify your finds is pretty good also.. Welcome to TFF. Most of the rivers I know in Florida are halfway to flood stage coming down.. Gallium
@Harry Pristis Wow! Thank you very much! After seeing your pictures I realized the two bones fit together. I actually have both the ulna and the radius, not a tibia.
Gallium
@Shellseeker Yeah they were found right next to a mastodon and about 100ft away from a bison. Our river is still above normal level, though 3ft doesn't make a big difference when you are scuba diving.

I will be needing some more help with IDing for sure, I will post them in a new thread once they are clean and dry.
