Fishkeeper
Exactly how large is it? Where did you find it? What rock material was it in? Was there anything else nearby?

Myra
Missouri, southeast on my uncles farm... I found a ton of different things! I have no idea what mineral, it’s super heavy and the underneath looks odd...
Myra
Found this morel mushroom fossil also... a bunch of things! Missouri is a good place to find fossils. I literally found what I think is a dinosaur fossil of some sort on my first rock hunt!
Herb
I do not believe it is a fossil "Absence of evidence is not evidence of absence"_ Carl Sagen No trees were killed in this posting......however, many innocent electrons were diverted from where they originally intended to go. Fossildude19
Your large first item looks like a concretion. These smaller items appear to be concretions or nodules as well. Your mushroom fossil looks like it may be a suggestively shaped layer of rock. It is an impressive mushroom mimic, however, fossil mushrooms are exceedingly rare. Fishkeeper
That's definitely not a mushroom fossil, it would be much more flattened and have patterns. Looks like you just have cool rocks. I'd suggest poking around on the forum for pictures of fossils to see what to look for.
doushantuo
Mushroomy-looking thing looks a bit like a fluidization texture(possibly water escape). Overburden(lithostatic stress) can cause liquid (but also sediment(see below!)) expulsion, especially with grain-size differences in different lithologies. Also earthquakes can cause these textures. PyritizeMe
Myra , I believe what you have found is amazing , it reminds me of my first finds and season. I was seeing things with my imagination which is great , the sad news is I believe these are geological and not biological which means the earth has created these stones and weathered them to according shapes and sizes. The cool part is you and most of us can agree with you in that they definitely resemble everyday life and objects . One of the harder things for me to do in the beginning was determine life from rock , you are still early in your journey , don't give up these are great finds and you have an eye for discovery.
oldtimer
Living in NE Oklahoma and being a beginning fossil hunter I have found many items I thought and hoped would be a fossil. Some were and others not. WE all know that at first we question and try to fit the look of something into a category of being a fossil. With time and experience we learn what to look for. You have a great eye for interesting looking rocks and or fossils. Keep up with the hobby and you will come across real fossils. In my area it is easy to find shells, plants, and coral fossils along with many others. Good luck finding other interesting rocks and hopefully some will be fossilized.
