shel67
I went to Post Oak Creek in Sherman, Texas today, and I found quite a good mix. A few of the teeth were a bit unusual. In the 4th photo I have a few questions. On the top row, second tooth from the right, is that a rodent tooth? Then (4th picture) second tooth from the right, that one has a strange “hook to it”. Also, second row, third from the right. Anyone know what those are? Thanks in advance!
ynot
Nice haul! It would help if You separate the items in question and take pictures from multiple angles. Fruitbat
I will say 'yes' to the rodent incisor on the top row, though it might help me to be positive if you could remove some of that pesky matrix that it is clinging to it. I'll leave it to our 'shark experts' to help you with the other ones! -Joe Illigitimati non carborundum Fruitbat's PDF Library
ynot
The first is a fragment but maybe it is a sand tiger. The second one looks like a pathologic tooth. These are deformed during growth usually by an injury to the sharks mouth. Third one looks like a rodent tooth. Darwin said: " Man sprang from monkeys." Miocene_Mason
Nice haul! I especially like the patho and ptychodus. “...whilst this planet has gone cycling on according to the fixed law of gravity, from so simple a beginning endless forms most beautiful and most wonderful have been and are being evolved.” ~ Charles Darwin Happy hunting, Mason
