Hello, bug lovers! I found some pretty cool trilobites this last Sunday at my favorite road cut in Wisconsin. Since I'm a bit of a noob with bugs I'd appreicate some help on IDs and a confirmation on the formation.

I think this is the Platteville formation. But it could be Decorah.....? @piranha

Sorry for the pics in advance. Lol

Found as is.

Tiny unknowns

And lastly, considering this is a 6-7 species associated plate would it be worth it to get this prepped professionally? What would you do?

Thanks for any help!

@piranha

Thanks, Foozil. Two "trip-makers" in one trip is always nice.

The assorted of unknown ceraurid cranidia appear to be Ceraurus mifflinensis.

Congreve 2013 reassigned Gabriceraurus mifflinensis to Ceraurus mifflinensis:

Congreve, C.R. (2013)

Evolutionary patterns of trilobites across the end Ordovician mass extinction.

PhD Thesis, University of Kansas, 255 pp.  PDF LINK

Congrats on some great trilobites! :fistbump:

with pictures of what,exactly?

Have you tried FRUITBAT"S Library yet?

I'd love to find a nice book or field guide to help in ID's. I prefer a in-hand book, and not just about Trilobites.

looking at some stuff right now

field guides: p. 145 et cetera

BTW, i MIGHT have SOME of what you are looking for,but 99,99% of it is fairly "technical",as Troodon calls it
