Fossil Claw
I received this as part of my TFF secret santa gift. Santa only had the genus name and no other info. Can you help narrow down a species? I am thinking Ductina ductifrons?
Fossildude19
Any idea where it is from? I see Ductina vietnamica for sale quite often, but not Ductina ductifrons, which is found in Germany. LINK Maybe Scott will let us know. @piranha Tim - VETERAN SHALE SPLITTER VFOTM --- APRIL - 2015 __________________________________________________ "In every walk with nature one receives far more than he seeks." Douvilleiceras
The large rather effaced pygidium and weakly defined glabella point to an example of D. vietnamica Regards, Jason "Trilobites survived for a total of three hundred million years, almost the whole duration of the Palaeozoic era: who are we johnny-come-latelies to label them as either ‘primitive’ or ‘unsuccessful’? piranha
Numerous localities across China include: Gansu, Guangxi, Hunan, Shaanxi, Yunnan. Most of the commercially available examples are probably from Nandan Fm., Guangxi.
Tidgy's Dad
A well know auction site has many of these up for grabs. Where a location is listed it is always from Hunan at this time. Including specimens sort of pink on grey shale like Fossil Claw's. Life's Good! Tortoise Friend.
