ynot
Welcome to TFF! Your fossil is a physogaleus contortus (GIBBES, 1849) extinct Tiger-like shark tooth. It is extremely worn. 1 Darwin said: " Man sprang from monkeys." Will Rogers said: " Some of them didn't spring far enough." My Fossil collection - My Mineral collection My favorite thread on TFF. sixgill pete
I believe I would just leave it at extremely worn shark tooth. Miocene_Mason
I’d lean towards hemi but it is super worn. “...whilst this planet has gone cycling on according to the fixed law of gravity, from so simple a beginning endless forms most beautiful and most wonderful have been and are being evolved.” ~ Charles Darwin Happy hunting, Mason

Carol Cameron
Greetings, Thank you for your quick response. When I google images of a physogaleus contortus none of them match the one I have. It is also quick thick. Is it a rare find so there are few images? I appreciate your help greatly. I shark tooth hunt daily it's a great hobby. Thanks again, Carol
Miocene_Mason
Unfortunately I don’t have any on hand of that placement, I do have a lower hemi though (not the exact same placement but general area) “...whilst this planet has gone cycling on according to the fixed law of gravity, from so simple a beginning endless forms most beautiful and most wonderful have been and are being evolved.” ~ Charles Darwin Happy hunting, Mason
Shellseeker
I have little or no knowledge of physogaleus contortus. If this is Hemipristis Serra lower jaw tooth, they are a frequent find in Florida rivers and creeks. Photo of different looking lower (on left) and upper. another. It is common for tips to break off leaving the root.
