Structure surrounding eyeball

Recommended Posts

s_wasmer

Good afternoon all,

I'm currently at the Field Museum in Chicago.  Can anyone tell me what the boney structure which seems to be co-located with the eyeball of a number of specimens is?  I assume that it isn't actually the eye for obvious reasons, but maybe a supporting or protecting structure?   Thanks for the help.
