Bone guy
I've got an interesting knightia here. The fish is nice, but what's that mass? Organ? Coprolite?
Tidgy's Dad
Coprolite, I think. 1 Life's Good! Tortoise Friend.
ynot
Coprolite, probably extruded after the fish was buried. Fish coprolites are common in the green river formation. Miocene_Mason
I agree with coprolite. I hope that’s not what makes the river green... “...whilst this planet has gone cycling on according to the fixed law of gravity, from so simple a beginning endless forms most beautiful and most wonderful have been and are being evolved.” ~ Charles Darwin Happy hunting, Mason

I have heard that acetone will remove the paint. I've never tried it, myself. RJB
Acitone will remove paint, and Ive done it, but the substrate was solid metal. Not sure what will happen with a porous rock? Good luck RB
westcoast
Yeah the dissoled solution might end up staining the surrounding rock. Try dabbing a little.
Packy
I hate when they use paint, I use clear sealant and it is still visible, and the bone structure is better seen. Packy.

Taogan
Any solvent will get sucked into the rock and take the paint with it unless you are really careful. Paint isn't so bad. Nice coprolite
