Penn Dixie Summer Hunt

Last summer my wife's side of the family held a reunion in Buffalo, NY. I had heard of a fossil park in the area and suggested that any family members that would like to go with me to the park on our afternoon with no obligations could join me. Five carloads later, we ended up at Penn Dixie in the misty rain. Our guide, no other than Devonian Digger provided us with an exceptional afternoon of fun. From 5 year olds to 80 year olds, each came home with a bucket of fossils! This is definitely a family experience for anyone in the area. One I recommend highly!!!!!

I must apologize to Devonian Digger. My intent was to post this months and months ago. But our computer crashed and I lost all of the family pictures showing utter joy on their faces. Still have not been able to retrieve them. So you will just have to look at fossils

This is better than all my trips to Penn Dixie combined! The caveat being that I’ve never been...

That sounds like it was a nice trip. I'm sorry to hear about the lost photos though. I try to backup my pictures on an external hard drive every 6 months or so for that very reason. In this digital age it is so easy to lose all those pictures and videos.

Nice finds and good report, Mike. :)

Penn Dixie is a great place for introducing folks to fossils!

Thanks for posting.

Congratulations. Sounds like you all had a wonderful time and at least a couple of those Eldredgeops you found were really good.

That is wonderful to have had such a wonderful and successful hunt for an entire family.

The ones you have posted are sure nice specimens and a great representation of Devonian age fossils.

You probably gave all that came along the fossil bug.  And you probably are solidified into the family for ever. :dinothumb:

Sorry I have been AWOL for months! But I have returned!!!

Those are all pretty nice finds! I’m especially liking that cleaned up pleurodyctum. Very cool to see one like that.

@minnbuckeye, I’m still treasuring that monster cephalopod you brought me. If you ever want to clear out any more of those monsters let me know, I’d love to buy some big’ns!

Hope everyone is well!
