lesofprimus
I've got this one fossil that I'm not quite sure how to classify it... It\s supposed to be a fossil Pterosaur tooth found in Kem Kem Beds of Morocco.... 1.75" long... However, it doesn't match any of my Pterosaur teeth... Or Crocodile, or Spinosaurus... Is it some sort of fish tooth? Thanks in advance, more pics if needed...
RyanDye
To say the least, it was found in the kem kem beds from the matrix. Lets see what @Troodon says.
Troodon
Is the base round
lesofprimus
Yes it seems to be round, also has a grove on 1 side towards the tip...
Troodon
The matrix/lighting is making hard to see the surface. Is there enamel on the surface? A groove is indicative of a claw. Is the groove natural ? Any chance you can carefully scrape off the matrix
lesofprimus
Don't want to scrape anything just yet, but I will try and take more/better pics.... gimmie a few..
Troodon
Looks more croc-ish than Pterosaur if it's a tooth. Called the heavyweights in. @Tidgy's Dad @Seguidora-de-Isis @LordTrilobite
LordTrilobite
It needs a cleaning. But I think it looks like croc. 2 Olof Moleman AKA Lord Trilobite
Troodon
There are lots of Crocodyliforms in the Kem Kem. That groove is a puzzle if natural
lesofprimus
Its got what looks to be a couple fractures that have been repaired.... pics are coming soon.
lesofprimus
The other side also has a small ridge....
Troodon
If it's croc it should have two cutting edges which look like ridges

Troodon
My best guess is its a tooth of a Crocodyliform

Tidgy's Dad
Croc, i think. The groove could be damage after death or pathological? They do curve quite a lot sometimes. 2 Life's Good! Tortoise Friend.

lesofprimus
If it's a Crocodilian, I'm impressed... Its the biggest one Ive ever held.
Troodon
Lots of strange Crocodyliforms in that fauna. The curve like Tidgy's Dad said is quite common Here is one from Niger and the Kem Kem as it's share

I've got a partial croc jaw that has partial roots preserved that are thicker than my thumb. The tooth crowns are gone, but some crocs in Kem Kem got absolutely massive. It wouldn't surprise me if some of them got over 10 meters in length. Also Kaprosuchus isn't present in Kem Kem as far as I know. I think it's only known from Niger.
