Longusorbis cuniculosis Crab Preps

Uncle Siphuncle

Recommended Posts

At long last, I got around to prepping these 3  Longusorbis cuniculosis crabs.  Fortunately, prep went very fast compared to the Megokkos and Pulalius crabs I found on my Pacific Northwest trip last summer.  Let's have a peek at them one by one.

No.1:

Well done sir!

Very impressive preps.

That looks like difficult matrix to work with.

Wonderful. I unconsciously let out an "ooooh" when I noticed the pattern on the claw of #2. Attractive prep job on them all. The little hollow they are now sitting in reminds me of a tiny tidepool.  Nice work.

Start the day with a smile and get it over with.

I prepped out many of these years ago.  Siphuncle has a couple of good ones.  Hard to get good ones.  Rock is soft, shell is soft on these.

You're telling me? The only two I have/had were collected by someone else years ago and were prepped badly. I traded one away, still have the other. The 2 times I went to the site myself I had no luck finding any. I guess most of them are now scattered around the world?
