Andy B
Found this today. It looked like a fossil bone to me but you guys are really good at this game so I'll wait for your opinions. Thanks! Andy

Fossildude19
Have you tried the burn test? If you hold a flame against it, if it burns/smells like burnt hair, it is recent. If it doesn't smell/burn, it is fossil. The tannins in the creeks can turn modern bones very dark in color fairly quickly. 1 Tim - VETERAN SHALE SPLITTER VFOTM --- APRIL - 2015 __________________________________________________ "In every walk with nature one receives far more than he seeks." Andy B
I just tried that. It didn't seem to burn or smell like anything significant. Maybe it is a fossil.

Rockwood
+1 deer humerus Almost certainly modern. Harry has informed us that deer have not changed much since the Pleistocene though, so there is a small chance that it is a fossil.
