ynot
Well, it looks like the trip was more successful than You originally thought! Congratulations on the meg tooth and the other sweet finds! Though the name may have changed again, lots of this stuff is disputed. Yup, we are at Otodus megalodon and Otodus chubutensis now. 1 “...whilst this planet has gone cycling on according to the fixed law of gravity, from so simple a beginning endless forms most beautiful and most wonderful have been and are being evolved.” ~ Charles Darwin Happy hunting, Mason

And is likely to change again, one suspects. Life's Good! Tortoise Friend.

Better ring to it. Every single fossil you see is a miracle set in stone, and should be treated as such.
Adam86cucv
Definitely looks like you had a good trip. I'm planning to take my son back down at least once before Memorial Day and they start to charge their crazy entrance fee.

Before they started charging money 6 or 7 years ago the place was a total nuthouse all summer long. You were lucky to find a spot big enough to even fit a towel on if you showed up past 9 am and that assumes you could find a spot to park. The Washington Post started doing articles on finding fossils there once or twice a year around then and as soon as that happened it was over.

I almost brought it home but I thought it would look better sitting on a log for everyone else to see. Don't feel bad about taking them home if you enjoy them. Some people that fossil hunt there don't seem to respect them at all.

Tis the way of the world, each succeeding gen creates new things, while the previous ones miss how it used to be. Someday maybe there will be a solid name for poor Megalodon, but those days are far in the future if they ever intend to come to pass. “...whilst this planet has gone cycling on according to the fixed law of gravity, from so simple a beginning endless forms most beautiful and most wonderful have been and are being evolved.” ~ Charles Darwin Happy hunting, Mason
