LiamL
I got this tiny fossil online for a very cheap price, under £5 and even included postage. It's been sat in the sellers dads Cupboard for over 20 years. Can anybody ID and tell me where it's from? Seller had no idea. Thank you! Fossildude19
Liam, This is a Gosiutichthys parvus, from the Green River Formation, probably Wyoming, USA. I counted 34 vertebrae, and the extreme tapering of the body from the head to tail were the identifying features that I used. That is a great buy for the price! Congratulations on the great and frugal acquisition! These are commonly mislabeled as Knightia eocaena by commercial dealers. This recent post talks about identifying features of this fish. 6 Tim - VETERAN SHALE SPLITTER VFOTM --- APRIL - 2015 __________________________________________________ "In every walk with nature one receives far more than he seeks."
