I took my camera along again

It took a good number of hours' work, but now I have just completed the stone that broke my back, so to speak. I spent a lot of time trimming off the matrix on both sides searching for ammonites under it which otherwise couldn't be seen, managing to dig out a couple more on top of the ones which could already be seen on the surface, although one of those turned out to be a dud. Not quite as many as I had hoped, but nevertheless, there are 6 Ancolioceras opalinoides ammonites to be seen altogether on both sides of this block. I particularly like the one with the shell completely intact. There's also a good amount of broken shell substance strewn about. There were some areas where there were no ammonites at all on the block, so I've reduced it in size quite a bit. The original was about 30x20x8cm., and now it's down to 16x11x6cm.

All of them.

Thanks, Adam. I must say, I am also quite pleased myself. This was a good collecting day.

Just checking back into this thread. As always, you never cease to amaze, Roger. I don't think I could add a note of praise for these finds and prep that other have not already bestowed. I'm sure you get tired of our awe and googly-eyed envy. :P

No I don't :P I surely appreciate it. Sometimes I think my posts can get a bit repetitive, but I guess I'll just continue on in this fashion as long as the positive responses keep coming :)

Repetitive successes in the field and at the prep station are always welcome. I'm sure you can always count on our praise and encouragement. :) You would keep digging and prepping these beauties regardless. You do fine work, Roger. :fistbump:

This is the last one from this bunch. It turned out that the big puzzle ammonite was missing a good part of the inner whorls, so I had to dispose of it. Another group didn't turn out as hoped, but at least this one is quite alright. 2 Ancolioceras opalinoides on matrix.
