Wood and...

Found this while shark tooth hunting with my son but unsure what it is. Looks like petrified wood but has knots all over it. Any ideas what I have here? Thanks.

Auspex

It could be a nugget of limonite, shot full of small ferrous concretions.

Thanks. Would I be able to test that with a magnet. That would be iron correct?

No, limonite (rust) is not magnetic.

The Jersey Devil

It looks like petrified wood with some concretionary material on it.
