Manticocerasman
Past weekend we had a "sunny" field trip to my usual hunting spot with the "LITHOS" geology club. We spent the whole day searching the late Devonian shales and nodules for al kind of fossils, brachiopods, crinoids, cephalopods, corals,... We did find the usual pyritised cephalopods ( manticoceras sp, tornoceras sp. and bactrites sp. ) but to me my biggest prize was when I hit a layer with a lot of goniatite anaptichy enjoy the pictures : 3 growing old is mandatory but growing up is optional. Ludwigia
Very nice finds! Wouldn't it be nice to someday find Aptychi in place in the shell? Greetings from the Lake of Constance. Roger http://www.steinkern.de/
MeargleSchmeargl
Ooh shiny! Looks lovely! Every single fossil you see is a miracle set in stone, and should be treated as such.
Manticocerasman
thx for al the replies I did find an other realy intereesting fossil, a fragment of a Devonian landplant in a nodule, I had it checked and it turned out to be an Archaeopteris sp. . it is the first time I found plant material at this location. next to the plant material there is a small goniatite, crinoid stems and a few brachiopods in the matrix. growing old is mandatory but growing up is optional.
