Jaimin013
Hi there, I was curious to see if anyone was familiar with teeth from Masiakasaurus. What are your opinions on this tooth as I am considering buying this. Has anyone seen one before or recently for sale? I know Madagascan material is hard to ID as not much is known with respect to the teeth that originate from there. The seller is going to send me better angles soon. Googling it brings up this article: https://qilong.wordpress.com/2012/10/31/incredulous-teeth-iv-the-strange-case-of-dr-masiaka-and-mr-vicious/ Description: Species: Masiakasaurus knopfleri Size- 21 mm - 7/8" Origin: Maevarano formation, Madagascar Price - Around £171 Thanks! Runner64
Looks like one in my opinion. Might need some more pictures from all angles to make a better call though.
SULLY
That’s pretty cool. I have never seen any specimens from one of those before
gigantoraptor
I does look like one, nice tooth also. The tooth seems to match the characterisitcs of a Masiakasaurus knopfleri. These have striations and tiny serrations, and this tooth looks to have had both of them.

Would be nice if you could get better photos and angles, because I’m seeing a possible small sauropod tooth with crenulations on one edge. Doesn’t look theropod to me, nor does it match Masiakasaurus. In my opinion.
Jaimin013
That's what I initially thought but I've asked the seller if he can provide more pictures @hxmendoza and will let you know
Jaimin013
Unfortunately this item has been reserved by another potential buyer so no luck for me on this one just yet. I have told them i may still be interested if the other person backs down. I have also asked someone else on this forum and they think it's a Sauropod probably Archaeodontosaurus..The tooth is slightly more elongated than most but they think that's probably more about the position in the mouth. The seller told me this morning that this specimen had sold. Would have been nice to have an unknown madagascan sauropod tooth either way but I guess things happen in life for a reason so I will just keep exploring! Thanks to all that helped me with the identification.

Troodon
I missed this post, collecting and agree with the others this is a sauropod tooth. I have a jaw section with a number of these teeth on it. Believe its an indeterminate Titanosaurid. Archaeodontosaurus is Jurassic from the Isalo III formation and its teeth are leaf shaped not pegish Archaeodontosaurus 2

Nevertheless would have been cool to own a sauropod tooth from that region.
