Looks like frog eggs to me

My son found this while playing in the creek. He has took after my mom and myself, we love going places for the sole purpose of finding unique rocks and fossils. This one has us stumped. I have to admit I’m not very experienced at all, I know the simple basics of typical fossils and rocks found around here but we can’t figure this one out. I think it looks like frog eggs or some type of flower or seed pod maybe. Any help would be much appreciated. We’re pretty excited to see what it is

Welcome to the forum. :)

Is it possible for you to retake the photo in direct light, placed on a surface? That might help bring out more diagnostic detail.

I can't see very clearly.

What sort of rock is it in?

Looks like gas vesicles to me.

It's very interesting ! :)
I think it might be an ironstone concretion.

That fits in with botryoidal as it happens in iron ore. :dinothumb:

I agree with iron stone concretion. The Indian Paint Pot concretion sounds spot on.

Cool concretion. I collect concretions, but don’t have any exactly like that.

It didn’t look metallic, but it could maybe if it was wet? I can’t wait to tell him that he made a really good find! It’ll tickle him to pieces. He’s obsessed with fossils and gemstone mining. He’ll probably hit the creek first thing today to try and find more. Thank you all for being so helpful! My mom and I have trunks full of stuff we have found and never really for sure knew what they were. I think we may pull it out and post some more on here

It didn’t look metallic,

Iron concretions are oxidized iron and will seldom have a metallic look.

Algae and evaporation are common elements in exceptional preservation.

They are at least as common in frog ponds. :)
