Found while kayaking

I found this while kayaking in Lancaster County and am not sure what this might be.

Thanks for the additional picture.

It would still help if You show the ends and sides.

At this point I think it is a trace fossil - ie a burrow cast.

Looks like a concretion/rock.

Are there coal seams in the area ? 

Structures like this are common a short distance north in coal country. Some of them take on an appearance similar to a vertebral column.

Concretion is what I called them.

bedded rock with less resistant layers eroded more than resistant ones. It's unusual for a piece of bedding to not split at one of the junctures. I would suggest some granitic rock followed by some other sedimentary rocks. Hard to explain why you would have a vertical section preserved like this.

Thanks everyone for all your help.  I am now hooked on learning more on concretions and fossils.  I am super excited to keep hunting.
