Florida Marine Fossil (Chiton)?

Recommended Posts

I found this grayish sedimentary rock on the shore in Dunedin Florida, USA. It has a white grooved oval imprint on it like some critter fossilized on it. Could it be a Chiton? (Ruler is in inches) Thanks All.

Seems to be the outline of a bivalve? with traces of burrowing. Also possibly some foraminifera in other areas of this.

Here is a recent chiton from my own collection.

Chitons have always 8 plates. On the bottom you can see them, it is only these parts that we can find as fossil.
