amichaell
Can anyone help identify this? I found it on Amelia Island near Fort Clinch. I thought it was a turtle shell initially, though the patterned surface is completely flat. It almost looks like hand print complete with palm and fingers. I don't know if this is a fossil or something manufactured. (ceramic?) Thank you for any help you can provide.
ynot
Welcome to TFF! You have part of a echnoid (sand dollar). Darwin said: " Man sprang from monkeys." Will Rogers said: " Some of them didn't spring far enough." My Fossil collection - My Mineral collection My favorite thread on TFF.
caldigger
It is a piece of an echinoid. Think sand dollar. Oops, Tony is faster on the keyboard than I.

Miocene_Mason
Abertella to be specific. Edit: mistakenly jumped to conclusions, it looks like an abertella. “...whilst this planet has gone cycling on according to the fixed law of gravity, from so simple a beginning endless forms most beautiful and most wonderful have been and are being evolved.” ~ Charles Darwin Happy hunting, Mason
