Miocene_Mason
Miocene tooth from a recent Matoaka trip. I realized I didn’t know what it was and I couldn’t let that stand. looks a bit strange but maybe a posterior lower Isurus desori? .8 inches Sorry for bad pictures “...whilst this planet has gone cycling on according to the fixed law of gravity, from so simple a beginning endless forms most beautiful and most wonderful have been and are being evolved.” ~ Charles Darwin Happy hunting, Mason

The tooth has a lot of root erosion but looks like an upper anterior tooth. Your tooth is definitely not a posterior tooth. The dentition of I. desori was very similar to that of the exrant I. oxyrinchus. See below for an extant I. oxyrinchus dentition. http://www.thefossilforum.com/index.php?/topic/59995-extant-isurus-oxyrinchus-mako-shortfin-shark-jaw/ Marco Sr. 2 "Any day that you can fossil hunt is a great day."
