My recent find! Anyway to identify this? I have tons of bone pieces but nothing like color or sheen of this! Found in North Sulphur River in Texas.

So, it looks like it is a joint of some sort. Maybe a knee? Anyways, if you post this in "Fossil ID" ( http://www.thefossilforum.com/index.php?/forum/14-fossil-id/ ) I'm pretty sure we'll know what it is in no time! :bone:

It might actually be a Mosasaurus vertebra. I found this picture of a Mosasaurus vertebra:

Maybe it's from a horse/deer? or are you talking bigger?

It looks like an arteriodactyl calcaneum, probably cow or bison.

Wow! Looks like you are spot on. Amazing! Any idea how old this would be?

You might get an idea by how fossilized it is.  If it is heavily mineralized, it could be even the large extinct bison. I believe there are some posts to determine bison from cow, but the differences are subtle. The largest, fossilized bison calcaneus I've found is 3.6 inches long.

Yes, very subtle differences. I still can't determine which if the two it is. I took another photo for size.
