Steve D.
Morning! I was fossil hunting along Calvert Cliffs, MD this week and saw a weird pattern in the cliff wall line. I found a plate with unusual patterns on it. At first I thought it may be a turtle shell but now I'm thinking it may not be. I would love to get some insight. Thanks! Fossildude19
Welcome again. To me, this looks like counter septarian structures. See here. That said, I wouldn't completely rule out root etching. Let's see what the others think. EDIT: Cropped, enlarged and contrasted the photo a bit. ynot
Looks counter septarian to Me. I agree with Tim! The other piece looks like a echnoid (sand biscuit) with bryozoan encrustation. 1 Darwin said: " Man sprang from monkeys." Will Rogers said: " Some of them didn't spring far enough."
