FriendshipRock1965
Found this next to a pier on the beach side of fort Walton beach Florida. It looks like a tooth fossil of some kind. Can anyone help me discover what this may be?

It looks like a tooth fossil of some kind. Can anyone help me discover what this may be? Hi there, This is a bivalve hinge .. probably from an oyster. I pick up at least one every other month thinking ... oh, yes !!! (oh no) .. it's a piece of a shell. Sigh ..... They can play tricks on you. In my neck of the woods they are usually jet black. This one looks more recent. Cheers, Brett
Ludwigia
I'll second Brett's appraisal. Greetings from the Lake of Constance. Roger http://www.steinkern.de/
Scylla
I agree, part of an oyster. Been fooled 100's of times by those myself
FriendshipRock1965
Glad to know finally! However, it is a little disappointing. It will always amaze me how things can trick you into seeing something else. I wasn’t as hopeful for a tooth because of top caving inwards. Thanks for the help guys
