crumpet the ichthyosaur
I have been looking at this fossil to purchase for my collection and I am paranoid that, like many other Morrocan Mosasaur jaw fossils, this could have faked elements. I was wondering if anyone could spot anything wrong with this fossil. Edited July 30, 2018 by crumpet the ichthyosaur
Bone guy
This looks very real, but it's not mosasaur. This is a jaw from a prehistoric fish named enchodus. In my opinion this is a nice specimen!
Troodon
The photo is not adequate to answer your question. We will need closups of the teeth. The matrix block looks good but teeth look odd.
crumpet the ichthyosaur
I can definatley see how this is enchodus fossil with those large fangs.
sseth
It is a nice specimen, but as others have mentioned it is fish and not reptile. _____________________________________ Seth www.fossilshack.com www.americanfossil.com www.fishdig.com
Miocene_Mason
Is it just me or are there two sets of teeth looks kinda like one set is from Eutrichiurides. “...whilst this planet has gone cycling on according to the fixed law of gravity, from so simple a beginning endless forms most beautiful and most wonderful have been and are being evolved.” ~ Charles Darwin Happy hunting, Mason
Taogan
Needs a better picture, I'm not convinced it's Enchodus, but it is fish. Eutrichiurides is a possibility
LordTrilobite
Absolutely not a mosasaur. As the others have said, this is a fish jaw. I agree that Eutrichiurides seems like a good candidate. But good reference material is hard to come by. Olof Moleman AKA Lord Trilobite
