Can you help me identify this tiny bone? It is so delicate I thought amphibian but this is not my strong.

Kind regards,

Alex

We'll likely need more views of different angles.  ;)

Try taking pictures in daylight, outside.

Take your pictures looking straight down on the item.

Put a ruler or tape measure in for scale.

Take pictures of all 6 sides.

Top, bottom, left side, right side, front, and back.

I find that cell phone cameras tend to work better outside.

The trick is to focus on the fossil, and not the background.  Cropping out as much of the background as possible helps.

Lighting is key.

Good luck.  ;)

am trying to make a vertebral process out of it or perhaps one of the "struts" on a small turtle shell.

@Plax Found some resemblance on Ranidae scapulas. Many meocene species on my collection area. Thoughts? Posted more pics above.

My first impression was scapula, but I haven't yet hit on a great match.

I am seeing this as a large (as in bullfrog) scapula. I have several much smaller ones from the Merritt Island matrix.

@old bones Do you have any photos? Or information on this?

@alej9582Glad I could help. Bedtime came before I had a chance to collect a couple of my photos to show you. When I get home from work I will upload a couple of the tiny ones that I have collected.

Here are two of my tiny ones from @Sacha's Merritt Island Florida matrix. I've been 3 years working on sorting, photographing and cataloging the finds from this Pleistocene matrix. It is taking quite some time to learn enough from books and PDFs to recognize some of the many bones from multiple species. I have a long way still to go! lol

@old bones looks like you are doing an awsome job. I try to find PDF on different fossils but can find much without paying $30 plus. Maybe im looking in the wrong place.
