Hello there, I recently found this whilst doing some excavations on the east coast of Australia, unfortunately I couldn’t retrieve the full fossil but am hoping that someone could help me identify what I found, thank you!

Wow that almost looks like some sort of crab or maybe a spider! How cool! Neat find!

Or maybe it could have been a plant perhaps?

Someone help I want to know now!:fingerscrossed:

I can safely say it’s not a crab or a spider. I’m leaning towards plant? or maybe an echinoid?  Not much else I can offer

Welcome to TFF!

I get the feeling the pictures provided are at an oblique angle to the fossil plane.

Can You post pictures of it straight on? Also pictures of the other sides of the rock may help.

Maybe a foolish supposition if the area you found that has not the good age : a chondrophorina ?

The crystals of " chrysanthemum stone " may have a similar look.
