Elodin
First time at GMR, didn't find the whale tooth or vertebrae that I wanted to find, but I'm pretty happy with how it turned out! Was away from my vehicle for four hours. Was not prepared for all of the glass though! Curious if anyone can identify anything in the last two pictures. The small piece isn't supposed to be in that. I'm not sure if the black thing is anything, I just thought it had an unusual pattern.

caldigger
Im thinking two largest pieces are "Chunks-O-Turtle" . Dark piece might be a bone sliver, hard to tell from far away. The little guy...?
Elodin
Ah turtle would make sense. I initially didn't think it was a fossil due to having a little bit of flex, but because of the number of teeth found immediately before and after shoveling it up I thought I should keep it to confirm. Thanks!
alej9582
Is the shell section fossilized? Not necesarily recent.
Innocentx
Nice little coral in your second pic. 10 minutes ago, Elodin said: didn't think it was a fossil due to having a little bit of flex Even though the turtle parts you found were with fossils it may yet be recent. But I've only collected teeth in the past so I'm not sure. It will bend a little bit, so I assume not. Old enough to have no smell though, which is nice

NCSTer
Congrats. As others have said, looks like turtle, most likely recent. Looks to be a nearly intact pygal shield, the rearmost part of the carapace. Modern or not, still a really neat find!

Elodin
Thanks everyone! Meant to post a closer image of the black piece. Does it look like a bone fragment or random rock?

caldigger
Yes bone. But please dont ask from what. I'm afraid the best we will be able to come up with is from something dead.
