could this be a tooth?

found this it really does resemble a tooth but the root is a bit thick....is this a tooth or a piece of petrified wood?.

Hard to tell exactly. Using the flash for closeups makes everything look oiled & any details are washed out. Looks cryptocrystalline, but no details to go by.

Accomplishing the impossible means only that the boss will add it to your regular duties.

no flash just some light or it would come out dark the object is not wet or oiled that is the way it is naturally.

Then it's an incandescent light source. Best options are outside in the early morning sun or an led light. I had the same problem until I got an led bulb for indoor shots.
