siteseer
A few more... I was given a really nice Syngnathus plate from the same area (but just one fish on a squared-off slab) like yours several years ago. The age given to me was Early Miocene and the rock unit was said to be the Vaqueros Formation. Do you have an idea how solid the Eocene age is for your plate? Has anyone else questioned it? The reason I ask is that I am not aware of Eocene fish body fossils from that part of the state. There are a few Miocene sites, however.

I purchsed this recently off an Ebay dealer who had several for sale (that I recall) he collected. So the locality and age are his data. Be true to the reality you create. Sir Knightia
Wow, you all have wonderful fishes! My collection is really just a beginner's level fish collection. Here are some I have: This is a Leptolepides I think, from Solnhofen. He's beautifully preserved but there's no contrast between the fossil and the matrix. Here is the counterpart I think: This one is fairly decent I think. And this is Anaethaelion I think. Beautiful preservation. Finally, here are my Knightias, the start of what will hopefully be a huge school of Green River fish one day. Be well, and be blessed!
