possible fish scale?

Recommended Posts

On my last fieldtrip in France at the pointe aux oies, I found this specimen in the late jurrasic layers on the beach ( Kimmeridgian ).

I am not at home with vertebrate fossils, but could this be a fish scale? any extra info is welcome.

the specimen is 1.5cm long

Yes, looks like a fish scale. It resembles Gar fish scales though I’m not familiar with the location so I wouldn’t know if they are possible there.

Perhaps, I admit I’m not an expert. The only fish scales I’ve found were late Devonian and freshwater.
