Hipster Macraster

[Uncle Siphuncle]

When I saw the beard on this echinoid, the name stuck.  Duck Creek or Fort Worth fm, North Texas.  I don’t find them often with such a luxuriant plumage of spines,  so I’m reluctant to prep further for fear of knocking off the fuzz.

Though if it's from the Duck Creek Fm. I would imagine that feathers would be more appropriate than fur.

Now that is really really Cool!!!  is it possible to 'clean' that up a bit and exspose more spines, or would that destroy the already spines that are present?

Nice find. I was surprised to find a couple of my local echs have spines too, but yours is better preserved.

Most of ours with spines just have them in intermittent patches.  Still looking for Chewbacca.
