Celebration of Harpetid Trilobites!

Recommended Posts

I recently received a scotoharpes trilobite from my grandmother for christmas, and was told by a kind member of this forum to share it with everyone!

I'm fairly new to fossil collecting- I acquired my first fossil when I was 7 years old, a piece of horned coral, and built up a collection over the years, but the direction I want to take is trilobites! My favorites being the harpetids. Please share your harpes specimens or any other trilobite you are proud of!

Moderately jealous.. harpetids are my favourite kind of trilobite...

But anyways, that one you got is stunning :D Such a nice present to get!

Welcome to the Forum!! I hope you'll like it here; we're one bunch of fun, fossil-loving people ;)

Opalised fossils are the best: a wonderful mix between paleontology and mineralogy!

Q. Where do dinosaurs study?

A. At Khaan Academy!...

Scotoharpes is not a valid genus from Morocco.  Scotoharpes had a stratigraphic range from the lower Ordovician to the upper Silurian.

Instead, this specimen is Devonian and should be labeled Harpes (=Helioharpes) perradiatus.  Congrats on the wonderful acquisition! Posted Image
