Wightlight
This supposed real Cretaceous croc from Khourigba, Morocco is up for auction and, uh, isn't this just a painted cast with some real croc teeth thrown in?
gigantoraptor
Yeah, it's a fake with teeth that seems to belong to Igdamanosaurus aegyptiacus, also known as Mosasaurus globidens. The teeth are real and from the Cretaceous (Maastrichtian) of Khouribga, but I doubt there are many real bone parts in this thing.

Seguidora-de-Isis
Unfortunately it is of the species crocodilious fakus, quite common in Shows like the one of Tucson and Munich. They model in the best possible way to look like a real skull, then add one, two or three real bones: to make a composition and look real. Some artists still bother to paint correctly with the same coloring as a real fossil from Khouribga, but it seems that this artist here was in a hurry and decided to simply paint the composition with white paint, and the work was very bad! The artist was in such a hurry that he did not even care when the ink sneezed into the so-called matrix: Which neither matrix is not, was also mounted to accommodate the entire composition. The teeth are real, but I do not rule out the possibility of these teeth being from different animals, and this is a very common practice in these Khouribga crocodile skull compositions. Moroccan laws on the sale and export of fossils are rather confusing, and thus tons of fossils of all kinds are exported annually. Complete skulls are rare, but teeth are discovered all the time in abundance: So using these true teeth to make compositions with fake skulls was a brilliant way to get rid of these tons of teeth for tourists wishing to take home the best of Morocco by paying a little... 3 Is It real, or it's not real, that's the question! -Andy-
A good attempt, but fake nonetheless. Here's what a real one looks like. 2 Looking forward to meeting my fellow Singaporean collectors! Do PM me if you are a Singaporean, or an overseas fossil-collector coming here for a holiday!

daves64
I saw that thing & the 1st thing that went through my head was "Look at all the pretty plaster".. I'm not really sure that "thing" is even good enough to be called a fake. More like a successful experiment in BAD. 1 Accomplishing the impossible means only that the boss will add it to your regular duties.
LordTrilobite
Definitely fake. Though, the anatomy looks quite good. It's the details that are lacking. I think this is a rough cast of a real croc. Possibly a cast of a real composite skeleton. 2 Olof Moleman AKA Lord Trilobite
