Dave, I think the first pic it is just sitting on a rock for display purposes.

I believe it’s sitting on a cetacean vert.

The tooth as pictured up top is in a whale vert I carved to cuddle the tooth and is as displayed.  Here are the matrix pictures of it in the water as I found it and partially through exposing it while waves splashed me in the face.  As the tooth got bigger I couldn't help but remove it completely to see its total condition. It's to beautiful to leave stuck in the clay.

Wow what an amazing tooth! Like many before I've always wrote off Matoaka but your find and others experiences definitely goes to show that beautiful teeth can be found all along the cliffs.

That is a beautiful meg! Jaw-dropping gorgeous!

 

I found my first (and only!) meg at Matoaka as well, though nowhere near as stunning as this find!
