Dave, I think the first pic it is just sitting on a rock for display purposes. Similar to how I keep this one.

I believe it’s sitting on a cetacean vert. 1 “...whilst this planet has gone cycling on according to the fixed law of gravity, from so simple a beginning endless forms most beautiful and most wonderful have been and are being evolved.” ~ Charles Darwin Happy hunting, Mason

The tooth as pictured up top is in a whale vert I carved to cuddle the tooth and is as displayed. Here are the matrix pictures of it in the water as I found it and partially through exposing it while waves splashed me in the face. As the tooth got bigger I couldn't help but remove it completely to see its total condition. It's to beautiful to leave stuck in the clay.
racerzeke
Wow what an amazing tooth! Like many before I've always wrote off Matoaka but your find and others experiences definitely goes to show that beautiful teeth can be found all along the cliffs. Littlefoot
That is a beautiful meg! Jaw-dropping gorgeous! I found my first (and only!) meg at Matoaka as well, though nowhere near as stunning as this find!
