John2
My father, being a fossil collector, passed away a few years ago, which left me with this fossil in possession. I don't know why, but it never occurred to me before now to try and figure out what type of prehistoric fish I've actually got my hands on. Any fossil expert here who could help me out? Macrophyseter
It's likely a fish from the Cretaceous of Brazil, maybe Vinctifer comptoni. Also, as a general rule the forum does not perform appraisals 4 If you're a fossil nut from Palos Verdes, San Pedro, Redondo Beach, or Torrance, feel free to shoot me a PM! Fossildude19
Welcome to the Forum. It is a Vinctifer comptoni from the Cretaceous Santana Formation of Brazil. Check against current auctions for appraisal. Nice example, btw.
