Spiral fossil

Found just south of Adairsville, GA

 

I have no idea what it is, but it's something.

It is more of a spiral than most, but I think it is banded chert.

I hadn't noticed. I think blue is often an indication of the presence of copper.

@ynot might know.

Vivianite is notorious for darkening upon exposure to light.

It is very hard to make an identification on this.

There does not appear to be any "crystal" shape to the blue area.

The color could be a copper mineral or several other blue minerals or an artifact of the photography.

The only way to be sure on this one is to have a gas chromatograph done on it.

 

I agree with the main rock being chert.
